Mark, the image in the header for the club is one piece, logo plus pictures
of the cars, which l assume was created by Jim. I guess Kyoshi is after the
NW Lotus logo bit only, in which case we'll need Jim's assistance for that
piece of the image if it's available

??? Just a reminder about the upcoming Griot's Garage Car Care (Detailing) Clinic this Sat. Feb. 16th 2013 at Sidedraught City, 1001 S.E. Main St. Portland, Or. 97214, starting at 10:00 am and going until about noon. This will be put on by Neil and of course we will learn about and get demo's on Griot's Garage products but the main topic will be the difference in care between the older types of car paint and the?newer ones. Weather will not be an issue as we will be inside. Donuts will be provided but you need to bring your own coffee. See you there!!!

The days are getting longer, the rain a little warmer, so racing season must be just around the corner!

The schedule is looking good and the roster of familiar events is coming together, with full seasons for drag racing, road racing, motocross, cycling and a whole slew of new running events.

In April the PIR Auto Swap returns, which is a great place to look for a project or the bits you need to complete the project already in your garage. 1500+ booths all the way around the track brings lots of swappers every year. And we will have the second Fall Auto Swap in September after a good start last season.

The Rose Cup returns June 14-16, and the Rose Festival has been working hard to bring some interesting new things to the track this year, plus the always good racing. 
? 
The Portland Historics moves to the week BEFORE July 4 for the first time this year, and we are looking for big vintage grids, as well as some surprising changes that should make it all a bit more posh. 
? 
Sadly the NASCAR weekend won't return in 2013. The racing was great, but the crowd wasn't keeping pace with the racing. It's a sharp lesson to remember: if you don't support the racing by buying a ticket, there is only one direction things go.

SOVERN's Columbia River Classic and the All-British Field Meet are back for Labor Day weekend, plus there is a full slate of OMRRA, SCCA, Cascades Sports Car Club race weekends filing out the calendar. There is even a new sanctioning body, NASA, doing two road race weekends. Check out their offerings, as they blend high performance track day style events with racing.

In the past couple of years PIR has been discovered by the running crowd, and we will host several 5k fun runs this year: The Electric Run, Rugged Maniac, Kiss Me Dirty, and several more are on the calendar, including the return in September of the massive Color Run (16,000 runners at PIR last year!). Also, look for an announcement on PIR's redone website on the newest event, a really unique running event, the weekend of July 20-21.

One more thought. I realized that even age could ne be a discriminator for membership. Basically, a club is in a position of saying we are a group that enjoys a certain thing/activity, in our case Lotus, we offer the a number of services/insights related to the topic and have banded together to promote/expand related services. If you are interested ? join. The corollary is also true. ?If you are not interested in what we do and how we do it you do not have to join and we will go on without you.
It is odd how our culture has changed so dramatically over the years.

When I read the by-laws I could understand why you are concerned that they are outdated. I chaired both the Mid-California and Baltimore Sections of the Society of Automotive Engineers plus I served as an officer/board member of several Sports Car Clubs and realize that a 10% participation by members is extraordinary. Recently, I wrote the business plan and interface contracts for a start up in New Jersey. I am noting this experience to give you a background for the comments. Please consider the input as a first cut to the final document.

-????? Terms need to be consistent. For example members are noted by the term General Membership and Club Members. It makes one look for a definition for each level of membership.

Membership Qualifications
-????? I am an engineer, not a lawyer, but I believe you can no longer disqualify a member for cause unless a specific membership criteria was violated. For example, technical societies have reasonable criteria in their scientific and technical exchanges. Age is reasonable at a minimum. Our discriminator is the specific marque. 
-????? Members join because the club offers something they want. This is a good section to define the benefits of membership. Examples are in the General section.

Hello again:

A couple of ELCC members have asked me about the hotel accommodations we have arranged for the West Coast Lotus Meet (WCLM) this summer, so I'll list them below.

The Red Lion Hotel in Bellevue was chosen to be the "Host Hotel" during the WCLM and their phone number is (425) 455-5240. We have arranged to reserve a "block" of fifty rooms there at a discounted rate of $100/night and they've said that if we need more than this number of rooms, they will be able to expand the number. Plus, they've also said that people can stretch this same discounted rate three day/nights before and after the basic WCLM (July 4th-7th) if they'd like to... be sure to mention that you will be a participant in the West Coast Lotus Meet.

You might like to keep in mind that the "Welcoming Cocktail Party & Dinner" of the WCLM will be held at the Red Lion Hotel and we'll probably gather there each morning during the WCLM before heading off to the various events and activities. Plus, they have a really nice big parking lot area which they will cordon off for us, and there is a washing station that will be available to us throughout the WCLM. 

You might like to know that there is a Hilton Hotel and a Sheraton Hotel right nextdoor to the Red Lion, if you'd rather stay in one of these hotels. We have not arranged for a discounted rate at either of these hotels, but, as you can imagine, they have to have pretty competitive rates.

The phone number at the Hilton is (425) 455-1300 and the phone number at the Sheraton is (425) 455-3330.

I've paid attention to clearances around the trunk area and there's maximum clearance at driveshaft and alternator.     
    Why "Lotus" original name?   
*_PLEASE_*, why "*Lotus*" original name?  I know Chapman letters "ACBC". But why "Lotus" name?  It is very simple for fans. I fins this info.  *THANKS!*

First off I want to thank all of my friends and all of the members here on LT. There would have been no way I could have undertook this entire process without the assistance and advice of you guys. You all are amazing, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. The last several months have been stressful. Countless 4am nights and this last night I did not sleep at all, but finally I was able to drive my Elise again this morning, and she'll be completely back to 100% by this Friday :D  For those of you that don't know, my Elise was damaged by a tire shop about 4 months ago.

Time for the winter tear-down! Have had a few small and major issues come up I want to fix as well and cleaning up some of the wear and tear. Also lots of preventive maintenance and ease-of-use mods!  The Preliminary MUST list: New SSC Shifter and Gate Cables ($750 OUCH) BOE's Aluminum Radiator $450ish? "TheChazz" V2 Front Splitter (I will be making during this thread) Fix a small leak in the exhaust (Wrong size clamp) All new brake pads all around New rear brake rotors Have brake Calipers cleaned, honed, shot peend, and powdercoated (Gloss Gunmetal maybe?) Fix a small crack in the bottom of the front clam Touch up paint Replace Front and side rocker panel paint protection.     
    Tinted the Elise   
Received the car back from my tint guy.  I told him to have fun with the back window.  I have to say he has some mad skills.  And yes, you can actually see through the entire image.  Might be a bit garish for some, but I think it looks pretty good.  Corvus     
    My custom steering wheel   
So I had my steering wheel re-wrapped in alcantara with orange stitching.  I had Redline goods do it.  (I had gotten alcantara shift and e-brake boots from them and decided to have them do my steering wheel to match.)  I love it, it came out great!
