Mark, I have looked into drives/routes and air museums for Saturday June 29th.
I think the Tillamook air museum will be a better choice, the roads getting to it look like more fun than mcminville and the Tillamook museum is $9 entry fee vs mcminville being a $25 per person entry fee.

So here is the plan.
We will meet at the Main St Pizza parking lot in Banks OR at 9:30AM
680 S Main St, Banks, OR
We will leave promptly at 9:45 If people think they may be running late they can call me at 503-730-6743
From there we will head to The Tillamook Air Museum
6030 Hangar Rd, Tillamook, OR
This will be about a 1 hour drive down Highway 6 which is pretty curvy and should be a nice drive.
We will arrive at the air museum around 11 and can have an early lunch in their 40?s and 50?s caf? which serves traditional burgers, fries and shakes.

I have also found that the Museum is not moving until probably 2015 so this is a good chance to see it before it moves to Madras. Let me know if you have any questions.

When you get there, be very careful in the parking lot because it has
dozens of potholes everywhere.

At least it did last year.  Last May, I scouted this very drive out twice
for my "Portland to Brighton" run.

It's a 24-hour team running relay race, but the difference here is there will also be two days of concert action for the runners to enjoy. 53rd Running of the Rose Cup Race on June 14th - 16th

The 53rd running of the Portland Rose Festival Rose Cup Race will be one of the largest and most varied in event history with over 400 entrants from all over the United States and Canada.

The full Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) schedule of races includes: the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA West, featuring the exotic Porsche 996 and 997 cup cars, the Portland Karting Association and the Rose Festival Cruise-In presented by Williams Controls.

The Festival Trophy Race will showcase the competitive Spec Miatas, one of the largest classes in the SCCA. Portland is home to several of the top West Coast Spec Miata teams.

The Rose Cup Race presented by Monte Shelton Jaguar will again feature high horsepower, high performance Corvettes, Mustangs, Porsches and other production-based race cars. Past winners Neil Shelton and Matt Crandall will be joined by local challengers who seek to add their name to the trophy.

The tradition of road racing in Portland goes back over 100 years. In June 1909, the Wemme Trophy was awarded to Bert Dingley, who won a race held on public roads between Portland and Gresham. Today racers in the Vintage class compete for the Wemme Trophy sponsored by AAA Oregon.

The Portland Karting Association will be exhibiting a variety of kart classes, with many different motor sizes and road race speeds of 65 to 130+ mph. Hi Mark and Club Members,

 

My British Car Cruise In & Show is going to be great this year. I have Moss
Motors helping out with Raffle Prizes this year - which will be pretty cool
I think. 

 

What is stopping you from driving out to this show? This will be the 4th
year I've conducted this British Car event. It is small - fun, personal and
not over-crowded. Mark is the only Lotus I've had - in the last couple
years. I did have another older Lotus the first year - but somehow all the

??? The Formula One weekend TV coverage of the Canadian Grand Prix starts with Fri. practice at 11:00am and ends with the race on Sun. starting at 11:00am. Also I'm not sure if F1 Extra follows the race as I can not find it on my cable guide. All on the NBC Sports Channel except the race itself which is on NBC.

This is the final push to make the July 4th Track Day a "Lotus Exclusive" event. ?We must have 25 drivers registered by June 15 but only 10 drivers have "signed up" as of today. ?After June 15, the event will be open to other types of cars.

I've just heard from ELCC-member Alan Perry who is coordinating the "Car Corral" parking on Saturday, July 6th at Pacific Raceway in Kent and he says that he needs 3-4 volunteers to help him because we anticipate 60-70 Lotus cars to attend that event, that day during the multi-day West Coast Lotus Meet (WCLM) that our club is hosting this summer.

If you can help Alan that day, please let him know by sending him an e-mail message... his e-mail address is in the Cc: portion of this message.

PS: Don't forget that you don't have to be attending the multi-day WCLM to attend the Historic Races at Pacific Raceway... all you need is a ticket to that day's event, and you can get those by contacting Alan.

Hello everybody:

Because I've gotten recent questions from several people who have said that they might like to attend one or two of the activities during the soon-to-be-here West Coast Lotus Meet (WCLM) and I've had to tell them no they can't because the multi-day event has been set up and budgeted as a complete package based on the large group discounts we've arranged at the various venues and locations we will be visiting during the four day event and it would just be too difficult to let people pick & choose events and activities on an ala carte basis.

Well... it turns out that there are actually a couple of activities during the WCLM that any member of the ELCC could attend, namely: the SOVREN Historic/Vintage Races at Pacific Raceway on Saturday, July 6th, and; the BBQ and Lotus-only Car Show that we'll be having at Griot's Garage in Tacoma on Sunday, July 7th.

If you'd like to attend the Vintage/Historic Races on Saturday, July 6th (while the WCLM participants and their Lotus cars are there), just get in touch with Alan Perry, the ELCC Membership Coordinator to arrange to purchase tickets... you probably won't be able to get a pass for the "Car Corral" because we only have a limited number and we're pretty sure that the Lotus cars attending the WCLM will use all the passes that are available.

And, if you'd like to come to the BBQ and Car Show at Griot's Garage on Sunday, July 7th, you can do that too, because Griot's Garage is paying for this activity. We are scheduled to arrive at Griot's Garage at 11:00AM and will be parking on their grass field, so feel free to attend this activity, but please let me know if you want to do this ASAP because I need to tell the Griot's people how many people to expect.

So there you are... an opportunity for you to enjoy a couple of the WCLM activities without the expense and time commitment of the whole event, plus you'll get to see probably more Lotus cars than you've ever seen in one place before.

Hello:

First of all I'd like to say Thank You to; Mark Gleason, Robert Vets, John Scheidt, Chuck deKeyser, Patrick Maruska, Jeff Stair and Roger Croshaw for coming to the "WCLM Volunteers Meeting"? on Tuesday evening, June 18th. I've sent this message specificly to these guys, but I don't know new ELCC member Jeff Stair's e-mail address, so... if any of you have his e-mail address, please forward this message to him for me!

I'd also like to thank ELCC-members Alan Perry, Tim Barker and Alice Larson who had earlier offered to help during this summer's? WCLM, but were'nt able to attend this recent meeting.

As you all know, this meeting was primarily meant to delineate the schedule and details of the multi-day WCLM and to discuss the various opportunities to volunteer to help during the event. I'll outline these opportunities below and itemize the names of the people who have said that they'd be able to help during these various activities... if there are inaccuracies or omissions in any of this, please bring them to my attention.

Before the WCLM starts -

Prepare maps for the routes to the various venues and activity locations... Robert Vets and me.

Wednesday, July 3rd -

Stuff the "Goody/Swag Bags" at the Red Lion Hotel in Bellevue at 7:00PM... Jeff Stair, Alice Larson, maybe Alan Perry, maybe Victor Smith, me, others(?).

An optional, pre-WCLM get together at Lotus of Portland... Mark Velky & Club Lotus NW members.

Thursday, July 4th -

Pre-WCLM "High Performance Driving Experience" at Pacific Raceway starting at 8:30AM... Chris Curtin and ProFormance Racing School's Don Kitch.

Meet people who are coming up from the Portland area at The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton and then lead them to Seattle/Bellevue... me.? 

Meet & greet WCLM participants and hand out participant registration packets at the Red Lion Hotel prior to the "Welcoming Cocktail Party & Dinner", starting at 4:00PM... Jeff Stair, maybe Tim Barker, me and others(?).

Friday, July 5th -

Meet people at the Red Lion Hotel at 8:30AM and guide them north to Paine Field in Everett to visit the Flying Heritage Collection (FHC)... Mark Gleason, Jeff Stair, me, others(?).

Deliver and hand out the "Box Lunches" to everybody at the FHC at 11:30AM... Chuck deKeyser.

Lead an optional long scenic drive from the FHC to the Snoqualmie Casino for dinner... Patrick Maruska.

Drive and guide people to Bellevue College for the autocross... Chuck deKeyser, me and others(?).

Help at the autocross at Bellevue College... Alan Perry, Tim Barker, Jeff Stair, Chuck deKeyser.

Drive and guide people from Bellevue College to the Snoqualmie Casino... Chuck deKeyser, me and others(?).

Saturday, July 6th - 

Get to Pacific Raceway at 8:00-8:30AM to help Alan Perry with parking in the "Car Corral" area... Tim Barker, Mark Gleason, Robert Vets, etc.

Meet people at the Red Lion Hotel at 8:00 or 8:30AM to take a "loop tour" scenic drive (probably by way of Mt. Rainier) to get to Griot's Garage in Tacoma... me and others(?).

An optional "Open House" at Randal Fehr Restorations in Seattle... Randall Fehr.

Monday, July 8th -

An optional, post-WCLM "Drive In The Country" in British Columbia... Mike Boyle, Ron Solomon and other members of the Lotus Car Club of British Columbia.


So, you see, lots of people are volunteering to do lots of different things, but if any of the ELCC, WCLM participants see a place in this schedule where they'd like to help (some or more), please just arrive early at any of the venues and locations... thanks!

I know that this multi-day WCLM is going to be a lot of fun! I'll see a bunch of you during early July!!!

Mark, I have looked into drives/routes and air museums for Saturday June 29th.
I think the Tillamook air museum will be a better choice, the roads getting to it look like more fun than mcminville and the Tillamook museum is $9 entry fee vs mcminville being a $25 per person entry fee.

We will leave promptly at 9:45 If people think they may be running late they can call me at 503-730-6743
From there we will head to The Tillamook Air Museum

This will be about a 1 hour drive down Highway 6 which is pretty curvy and should be a nice drive.
We will arrive at the air museum around 11 and can have an early lunch in their 40?s and 50?s caf? which serves traditional burgers, fries and shakes.

Here is your one week reminder for the drive this weekend. This is the Clubs
June activity, the reason I chose a meeting spot in banks is because I did
not want people back tracking to meet up with the group and the drive from
Portland to Banks is fairly plain, it doesn?t get fun until after banks!

is?racing at PIR this weekend with his Europa, but he lost 3rd gear. Do you 
know of anyone who might have a Europa transaxle about that Dan could borrow. 
He's also driving the Pac NW Historics next weekend.

I talked to Dan at the track. He is done for this weelend, but has another gearbox on the way from California, due to him in time to be ready for next weekend's festivities at Seattle.

I've copied Dan Wardman. Dan is from San Jose and is racing at PIR this weekend with his Europa, but he lost 3rd gear. Do you know of anyone who might have a Europa transaxle about that Dan could borrow. He's also driving the Pac NW Historics next weekend.

Dan's neighbor brought his spare gearbox up to my place today and I'm going to bring it with me to the WCLM where Dan can pick it up. At least he can be running for next weekend's races at Pac Raceways.

Thanks Kiyoshi and Mark and everyone.?? The transaxle that Kiyoshi is bringing should do the trick,? it is stock but will be infinitely better than the close ratio box that is in the car now.? It is stuck in third and while I haven't driven Pacific raceways before I am pretty sure it is not a 1 gear track.? Thanks again,? Dan
