??? - Tue. the 5th - Membership Meeting at the Lucky Labrador Beer Hall in N.W. (http://www.luckylab.com/) starting about 6:30pm. This will be the only reminder as it is only five days away.

??? - Tue. the 19th - Membership?Meeting at the Horse Brass Pub (http://www.horsebrass.com/) starting about 6:30pm. More details in the reminder.

??? - Tue. the 26th - Go-Kart Night / Dinner at Sykart Indoor Racing Center (sykart.com) and McMenamins - John Barleycorns (http://www.mcmenamins.com/) starting about 6:30pm. This could cost you about $65.00 per person, however Your Club will be paying the bill for those Members current on there dues. Another benefit of Club Membership!!! It ends up being a late Dinner starting about 8:00pm and you can come to just that if you would like. More details in the reminder.

Hello everybody:

Corky Russell (one of the ELCC members who has been attending the Planning Meetings for the 2013 Western Washington All British Field Meet... WW ABFM) expressed a concern to me recently that, with a lot of my attention diverted by the West Coast Lotus Meet (WCLM) that maybe the WW ABFM has been getting less attention than it deserves.

Suffice it to say, that has not been my intention... I really enjoy the WW ABFM and I know a lot you do also.

This year's WW ABFM is scheduled to occur on Saturday, July 27th and even though Steve Hanegan and the others who put on this terrific car show have needed to do a significant amount of re-organization because of a planned-for construction project that is scheduled to begin on July 1st at Bellevue College, the show will definitely go on!

And, don't forget that there's usually a fun Cocktail and Participants' Information Packet Hand-Out Party the evening before (Friday, July 26th) which is really worth attending... you get to see a small sampling of the cars that'll be at the big show the next day, complemented by yummy finger food, chilled wine and maybe even a nice selection of beers brewed in England (and/or at least brewed in the "English Style").

PS: And don't forget about the Vancouver ABFM up in Canada that is scheduled for Saturday, May 18th and the Portland ABFM that happens on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend... these are good shows and worth attending and/or taking part in also.

Last year Jerry Boone hosted a garage tour up on Fallatin Loop and I had a chance to meet some of you. I live a few doors down the block and now have most of the mechanical work done on my 1970 Lotus Europa S2 Project.? Working on the body, but have the stress cracks repaired and entire thing veil coated.? They are essentially the same engine used in the Europa, but have 8.6 / compression pistons and so burn regular gas. One appears to have been a test engine that was nearly brand new and stored, and so I have used that one in my car. The other appears to be a used engine, but it is evident that it has been rebuilt because the visible piston tops are immaculate...so they are either brand new or have been cleaned and reinserted. I can remember that someone was looking for a stock Europa engine, and so you may

Sorry, I should have been a bit more clear. I am the office manager for Stickmen Brewery in Lake Oswego. WE are a new craft brewery and have been open since July and Brewing since January (full scale).? My boss and I love racing and are planning to watch as many live events as is possible. We started out joking that since he didn?t have cable that we would just stay late at work and watch the races. Then others started making noises that they were interested, and we thought it might be a good thing to promote and just stay open for the races that we can. This Saturday we are going to say open late for the Australian GP, ?and we wanted to reach out to people who might be interested. I usually have the Rolex and ALMS races on (unless customer demand dictates otherwise) and plan to watch Indy and I do watch NASCAR prelim stuff here too as I can(I work in the office so I have to steal away to the bar when I can to keep track) 
?
So that is the deal. We are not sure of the interest, and will have at least our bar open, perhaps a limited menu, if enough people care. Oh and yeah, we have had the TV schedules posted in the office for us for a few weeks now in anticipation? so we are aware. (I usually DVR them at home, but we can?t do that here)? For races that are not easily watched live we were thinking the replays might be good to show, although, during business hours, we will show what the majority of customers want to watch. We have only room for 2 TVs in our bar so, majority rules?. 

Oh, and we are in Lake Oswego, right on the lake. I will give you links to our FB and web page.

I just received this email message, about the F1 replays.  I was
speaking with Greg @ RTGT earlier today & I understand there is a
conflict tonight = race replay not going to happen as planned.

 

I'll be sure to find out the schedule going forward & confirm for
everyone that events are ON.  This week however, no race replay at RTGT.

Hello everybody:

I just thought that y'all would like to know that Kiyoshi Hamai (the Webmaster of the Goldengate Lotus Car Club) and I have agreed that it would be a good idea to extend the "Early Bird" discounted Registration fee for the 2013 West Coast Lotus Meet (WCLM) until the end of this month... in other words, it'll only cost you $225 to register for all of the events, activities and meals during the four-day 2013 WCLM if you sign up by March 31st... you've got almost two more weeks to save $50 (less than Lotus Car Club members regular registration) before registration goes up to $275, which is still a pretty darned good deal for "everything" other than motel costs (if any), breakfasts and any associated alcoholic beverage consumption.

I'm just sayin'

PS: We already have about 70 people registered for this summer's WCLM, but not too many of them are ELCC members and, it would be really silly if there were more people from Arizona or Colorado or British Columbia in attendance than people from our own Evergreen Lotus Car Club. I mean, c'mon, it's going to be a lot of fun and you are sure to get a chance to see more Lotus cars during this event than you're likely to see anywhere else, unless you travel to one of the national LOGs or head across the "big pond" to England!?!!

Hello everybody:

I thought a few of you who like, have or might like to have an older Lotus Elan would like to know about a new book that apparently has just come out.

In the May 2013 issue of the Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car magazine (on page 61) there a brief description of a Second Edition of Gordon Lund's guide called "Lotus Elan, Restoration Guide".

Apparently this is a revision of the First Edition which has been out for some? time and includes a significant amount of new material and detail.

The article says that the book costs $43.95 through Brooklands Books ?? www,brooklands-books.com?? or www.amazon.com?? Of course, some of the automotive book stores (like Books4Cars, etc.) around here just might also have this book For Sale and different prices.

??? - Tue. the 2nd - Membership Meeting at Lucky Labrador Beer Hall in N.W. (http://www.luckylab.com/) starting about 6:30pm. This will be the only reminder as it is only a couple of days away.

??? - Sun. the 21st - Business Meeting at Maher's Irish Brew Pub in Lake Oswego (maherspub.com) starting at 12:30pm.

??? - Sat. the 27th - Tea and Scones at Lady Di's British Store?& Tea Room ( I could not find a website but, see more info. below) starting at 11:30am (we have a reservation). The owner has asked us to all order the same thing (I was thinking Tea and Scones, $8.95 plus a 20% tip per person), as I think she is by herself and it is hard for her to do different orders all at the same time for a?group. ??? Your Club is getting a under cover space and we plan to sell CLNW shirts and hopefully get a few new Members. I have permission for Club Members who have a small number of British car parts to sell, to use the CLNW space for Free. If you have a large number of British car parts or a British car to sell you would have to get your own space but, you can request one next to the CLNW space.
??? Does anyone have a small folding table that would fit in my Elise, that the Club could borrow for the day?
