??? The spring Club Lotus Northwest Track Day is coming up on Fri. May 24th 2013 at Portland International Raceway (PIR). To register or if you have any questions you need to Call (Mark, does not do computers) the CLNW Vice President and Track Day Coordinator Mark Viskov at (503) 641-7693. We have three Run Groups - Intermediate, Advanced?and Race Car, there is No Novice Group. The cost is $220 for CLNW Members and $240 for non-members. You must be a CLNW Member Prior to the Track Day to get the discount, So what are you waiting for!! You will get about?six to seven 20 min. sessions during the day with fewer cars on track with you than most other track days. All of this combined makes the CLNW Track Day a Great Value and the Best Track Day in the Northwest. We Welcome all marques, not just Lotus. See the CLNW website for more details (http://www.clnw.org/).

??? Following the CLNW Track Day there will be a BBQ at Skyline Tavern (address below), just like last year. Everyone is invited, even if you could not make it to the Track Day and we have the Covered BBQ?area reserved from 4 to 10pm. Bring your own meat to cook, a dish to share with the group and whatever you need to make that happen. The Club will provide the charcoal and lighter fluid. All beverages must be purchased from Skyline Tavern as they do not charge a fee for the BBQ area this is how they make there money. There is plenty of parking and a Great View of the sunset. ??? Tue. the 7th - Membership Meeting at the Horse Brass Pub (http://www.horsebrass.com/) starting about 6:30pm. This will be the only reminder as it is just a few days away.

??? Tue. the 21st - Membership Meeting at Maher's Irish Brew Pub (maherspub.com) starting about 6:30pm.
??? We are on the search again for a new?west side meeting location as the good parking for the last one went away. So this month we are trying Maher's, which I think came in 3rd in the last vote and we have another place to try in June. If you have any more suggestions let me know. I would like to take a vote on the final choice in a few months at the July Business Meeting.?

Hello everybody:

I just thought you might be interested to know that I spoke with Don Kitch who runs the ProFormance Racing School yesterday afternoon and he said that only three (3) people have signed up for what was originally going to be an exclusive, Lotus-only track driving activity at Pacific Raceway on Thursday, July 4th before the actual West Coast Lotus Meet (WCLM) begins.

To re-cap, this activity, which Don is calling an Introduction To High Performance Driving will be an all-day experience beginning with a breakfast (provided by Park Place Ltd.) and a Driver's Meeting. You will be driving your own car and will be provided with guidance and driving instruction, if you want or need it.

There will be a break toward the middle of the day during which a casual lunch will be served (also provided by Park Place Ltd.).

I think we've got the month of May to sign up before Don "opens-it-up" for other types of cars. It'd be nice if this ended up to be an exclusive, Lotus-only activity, but maybe it'd be fun to have a few Alfas, MGs or other types of cars involved.

??? The spring Club Lotus Northwest Track Day is coming up on Fri. May 24th 2013 at Portland International Raceway (PIR). To register or if you have any questions you need to Call (Mark, does not do computers) the CLNW Vice President and Track Day Coordinator Mark Viskov at (503) 641-7693. We have three Run Groups - Intermediate, Advanced?and Race Car, there is No Novice Group. The cost is $220 for CLNW Members and $240 for non-members. You must be a CLNW Member Prior to the Track Day to get the discount, So what are you waiting for!! You will get about?six to seven 20 min. sessions during the day with fewer cars on track with you than most other track days. All of this combined makes the CLNW Track Day a Great Value and the Best Track Day in the Northwest. We Welcome all marques, not just Lotus. ??? Following the CLNW Track Day there will be a BBQ at Skyline Tavern (address below), just like last year. Everyone is invited, even if you could not make it to the Track Day and we have the Covered BBQ?area reserved from 4 to 10pm. ??? - Just like this year, next year at the Jan. Business Meeting we plan to take a vote on holding the Track Days for the year to make sure we are outside of the 60 day cancellation window and like this year I'm sure there will be a lot of discussion.

??? - We plan to take a vote on the replacement location for the West-side Membership Meetings at the Jul. Business Meeting (All the prior requirements for a location apply, see the E-Mail Archives on the Club Website from last year). Right now our East-side location is the Horse Brass Pub,?more or less in the middle as far as North or South. Still looking for ideas for a West-side location!!

Hi Mark,
I think the right decision was made to cancel the track day. Does it cost the club $1500 though? Longer term I think we should drop the spring date and just go to one in the fall. In talking to Mark Viskov he is getting tired of running the track days, but seemed to?still have?enthusiasm?for the Fall?Track day. ?I don't know what our bank balance is, but the Spring Track day is always iffy and we can't afford to drain the account. Anyway we need to have a good discussion about the Spring date.
Also wondered when a vote on meeting places was going to be held? I think I expressed before that a northern location should be considered.

Hello everybody:

I just received a request from the guy who's going to be running the autocross activity during this summer's West Coast Lotus Meet (WCLM) and he's told me that he needs at least three (3) volunteers during this activity to run the timing devices which he'll be bringing with him... actually, this guy, who is a member of the Golden Gate Lotus Club (GGLC, think San Francisco Bay Area), will be driving a medium-sized "Box Truck", painted in Lotus colors with the GGLC logo, to the Seattle area that contains everything that it takes to run an autocross activity, including a PA system!

The autocross will be held on Friday, July 5th from about 1:00-5:00PM at Bellevue College in the largely-open parking lot that is adjacent to the east-side entry road that leads into the campus, off of 148th, so it'll probably attract a certain amount of non-WCLM attention,... which is okay.

Could you please get in touch with me if you are interested in helping out during this activity!?!!

And, don't forget that you don't have to be attending the WCLM to volunteer to help at the autocross that is scheduled as one of the activities during the WCLM!

PS: As you might guess, I'll be sending out a few more e-mail messages pretty soon looking for other volunteers to help with other "work items" during the WCLM, things like: "Goodie Bag" stuffing; on-site registration packet hand-out; local knowledge guidance; meet & greet during the "Welcoming Cocktail Party & Dinner" at the Red Lion Hotel in Bellevue; "Scenic Drive" guidance; etc. Several people have already volunteered, but we'll definitely be able to use more help.

PPS: Amazingly, this summer's WCLM is just a little over a month away!!!?

    Lotus Exige S Roadster to Drop its Top this Summer   
Despite being unveiled last year, the Lotus Exige S Roadster has been missing in action ever since. That will all change this summer, as the British automaker has confirmed itll be heading to dealerships  at least in Europe.

Just wanted to share the progress of my dash install. I'm using the brackets made by Brent Bauman. It is a SUPER clean and easy install. You only have to tap 4 wires from the stock cluster harness(+/- power and +/- CAN) and you get you your standard dash functions(fuel level, water temp, rpm, speed,... etc.) Then you can add whichever extra AiM sensors that you like for your setup. The bracket bolts right inplace of the factory cluster using the same 4 holes.     
    Oh, you compromised!   
Interesting story to share with the forum. Today I went to see the Ferrari Challenge event at the Sonoma Racetrack. Stopped by the Ferrari area to look at the new F12. I was with a dear friend of mine who happens to be famous and met the President of Ferrari USA.  After a quick intro he started to ask why my friend does not drive a Ferrari and giving him a hard time since he has an MacLaren MP4 and an Mercedes SLR. Then when he hears that I have a Lotus he looks at me and says: "I have no problem with you because you had to compromise" and kept on giving my friend grief for his choices.

I received my newest HOT ROD magazine yesterday and read about a new wrap that I thought my Lotus brethren would like to know about.  Seems the fashion forward beat me to it.  Is that you Swizz?  (Seriously, this would be good for an interior application, like the Ferrari "mouse fur" anti-glare on top of a dashboard.  I've seen a few Esprits that need a new dash top and this could be easy to apply.)  Velvet-car.com  Here you go:

Anybody shipped their car (or any car) across the ocean...Europe to States or States to Austrailia? I'm trying to figure out what potential hazards exist in that journey...salt air? Condensation, repeated dew points? Anything that might prevent the car from starting at the destination port?(like no battery left..:(). What to watch out for?

So I'm nearing the end of my Fiasco (see build threads in sig) and car is mostly in one piece (Short of front Grilles)>  Not 100% Happy with the color, but I am the first one to mix and spray it so I cant say much.  This IS a Plasti-Dipped car, and I have full intentions of going back OEM later this year.  The color is exactly what I wanted from 10+ft away. Any closer and it looks like a Glitter covered Barbie car.... Maybe im harsh (everyone local seems to like it) but hey, blame me?  Image: http://thechazz.

Oregon Festival of Cars Weekend Schedule Announcement - 5.30.2013      
Schedule Details!   
     We know we?ve been quiet for a long time, but you can?t imagine the half of what we?ve been going through to get this year?s Oregon Festival of Cars to happen!
The big roadblock has been a scheduling conflict at the Les Schwab Amphitheater that just hasn?t wanted to resolve itself. We?ve worked, waited, pushed, reasoned, and begged, yet we still don?t know if the date will be available to us.

Finally, we came to the conclusion that we just had to move on. We have now completed arrangements to move the Festival to the driving range at the Broken Top Club. You may remember the site from last year - we had breakfast at Broken Top.

If you have been to Broken Top Club, you know that it is a drop-dead gorgeous site for the Festival. The driving range sits across the lake from the Club House. It is circled by mature trees, with snow-capped mountains in the background. The photograph of the Festival Cars on-site will definitely be postcard caliber. 
Broken Top Club is eager to have us, and is looking to establish a multi-year relationship with us. General Manager Brad Myrick is a car guy (Maserati owner), and knows all about the public?s fascination with beautiful cars. Brad is eager to help us continue the Festival?s upward arc to becoming one of the country?s premier regional celebrations of the automotive hobby.

We were also disappointed to learn that personal issues forced Barbara McQueen to cancel her appearance at the Festival. We will try to get her, and the Steve McQueen focus she would bring, to the Festival next year.

After further research, we have expanded this year?s theme to be the Anniversary Edition of the Oregon Festival of Cars. We remain excited to be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Porsche 911, and we are expecting to present a comprehensive representation of the many variants of the 911. But we will also be celebrating 100 years of Aston Martin, 50 years of Lamborghini and 60 years of the Corvette! It?s going to be quite a birthday cake!

But remember - your marque or model doesn?t have to be celebrating an anniversary to participate. The key attraction of the Festival is that every year it celebrates all members of the automotive hobby.

So please send in your registration promptly, and try to get your friends to join us. Our new site gives us more room than ever, and the more cars on display the better.  Meanwhile, we are busy working on some new ideas that will make the Festival even more fun for the participants. We will update you as these developments are finalized.
