Hey Mark:

Thanks for your reply to my message and for saying that you'd bring up the subject of a possible dinner for participants in next year's WCLM (heading up from "down south") on the evening of Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at your next CLNW Business Meeting on Sunday, October 21st.

Now for a little tiny up-date on my thinking... how about you getting in touch with the Manager or Owner of the Portland Lotus Dealership to see if they'd like to at least partially help "Host" this Wednesday night dinner!?!!

Maybe the Portland Lotus Dealer could pick up the tab for a cocktail party/reception before dinner in the motel that the people from "down south" would be staying in and maybe even have a few brand new Lotus cars near the entrance to the motel, or maybe even inside! How about that for an idea!?!!

Oh, and BTW, do you or anybody else with CLNW have any
 suggestions/recommendations regarding motels in the Jantzen Beach area (handiest to I-5 for arrival and departure) that could accommodate a bunch of Lotus cars (some of which might even be in trailers)? Plus, it'd be nice if they had or were immediately adjacent to a decent restaurant for the evening's dinner.

PS: You might like to know that one of the main events during the 2013 WCLM will be attendance at the "4th of July SOVREN Vintage/Historic Races" at Pacific Raceway in Kent... we'll be attending (in mass!) the Saturday, July 6th day of racing. It'll kind of be an "anchor" event for the WCLM.

    Thanks for the update on your ideas for the 2013 WCLM. Our plan is to discuss and vote on the possibility of CLNW hosting the dinner in Portland and the caravan to the Seattle area during our Sun. Oct. 21st 2012 Business Meeting. I will be able to give you a firm answer after that. Please keep us updated in the meantime.
    As you can see I have cc'ed CLNW to keep them informed.

Hey Mark:

I know that this might seem like awfully long range planning, but it's about next year's West Coast Lotus Meet (WCLM) so I've kind of got to do it.

As you might know, Kiyoshi Hamai (my contact with the Golden Gate Lotus Club) has suggested that maybe a few of your club's members might like to caravan north with some of their members (and other club members from down south) on their way north to Seattle for the 2013 WCLM.

Of course, I have no idea where any of these people will be spending the night(s) on the way to Seattle from California, Colorado, Arizona, etc., but I thought maybe they might like to stop in Portland for the last night before they headed on to Seattle.

At this point (and you are the first to know this other than Kiyoshi!), I'm thinking that the WCLM would officially run from Thursday, July 4, 2013 through Sunday, July 7, 2013 and I'm thinking that most of the Thursday, July
 4th part would be the final driving time getting to Seattle with a welcoming dinner for all participants that evening.

Now this is new!... You might like to know that I've been talking with the people at The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington for a while about a possible "Track Day" there, but their schedule and ours just don't seem to line up at all... so, just yesterday I sent them an e-mail asking them what sort of an event they have going on there on Thursday, July 4th and if it would be possible for people heading up to the WCLM to stop in, watch whatever it is that they've got going on that day and maybe drive a few "Parade Laps" around the track during a (lunch) break in any racing (or whatever) that might be happening there that day???

It just seems like it would so easy to take a little detour to Shelton and The Ridge facility on the way to Seattle rather than to ask participants in the WCLM to drive back down
 south to The Ridge during the WCLM. Plus there's a nice drive-in-the-country route north to Tacoma and on to Seattle from Shelton that might even include a ferry boat ride... how fun would that be!?!!

If I encourage the "down south" people to stop in Portland for the night (maybe at one of the Jantzen Beach motels (easy access to I-5 and handy to the bridge into Washington) of Wednesday, July 3rd... do you think you could organize a dinner get together for them and members of CLNW that night (maybe right there at those motels to keep it simple?) and then maybe encourage some of your members to travel north to the WCLM the next day in caravan with those people?
