At the end of May, we will be receiving a delivery of eight 1:43 subjects from Spark. The undoubted star of the show is Jim Clark's 1965 Indianapolis 500 winning Lotus 38, which forms part of the resin brand's Indy 500 Winners Collection.
Clark scored a landmark victory at the Brickyard that year. Since 1960, British teams had attempted to win the famous race with their rear-engined machines. This period was known as the British Invasion.
Clark first raced in the 500 in 1963, finishing second. Just two years later, he would dominate the race, leading 190 of the 200 laps to take victory in his Lotus 38. It was the first time a rear-engined car had won at Indy. Clark subsequently became the only driver to have won the Indianapolis 500 and the Formula One World Championship in the same year, a feat that is unlikely to ever be emulated.
We cannot wait to receive this model. Matt, of course, will be adding it to his rapidly expanding (thanks to Spark) Lotus collection. There's been a model shop in the St. Martins Lane area of London for over 40 years. In the late spring of 2011, Diecast Legends took on the mantle by   opening a shop at 15 Cecil Court, just one minute away from the previous   encumbent. We're just a minute   from Leicester Square and Covent Garden tube stations, and less than two   from Piccadilly Circus or Charing Cross.
